DETAIL SUMMARY OF WORK
This urban core was built to smooth the flow of people in Shibuya. It is also called the “elevated pedestrian route,” and is one of the highlights of SHIBUYA FUKURAS. There is a high-transparency glass box over the area to make the vertical movement routes visually easy to identify. Also, omitting the lower columns ensures a wide-open space that is a good fit with the gate plaza that is a starting point for the district. The key engineering points are the use of a suspension structure and the slimming of the foundation steel frame to the limit for the sake of its openness and visual design. In general, the word “facade” has the image of “surface” or “skin,” but AGB takes it as the subject of facade engineering, which includes all visible supporting elements. In this project, the importance of the foundations is particularly made obvious, and we worked on the study and crafting of the foundation steel frame and supporting elements.
