DETAIL SUMMARY OF WORK
This is a sophisticated façade which conveys a feeling of warmth using special large sized tiles. To emphasise the beautiful grid, the pillars and beams were minimised, and we sought to express the corporate philosophy of “linking people and companies” with a gentle finish. A candidate for this finish were tiles. Although tiles are highly designable and can be used to express different textures and colours, to overcome the fact that the thinner the kiln-fired thin pieces were, the more fragile they were, a large panel combined with GRC was developed.
POINT
To minimise the seams, the tiles were enlarged . To emphasise the lines, the tiles and substrate were made thinner. In order to satisfy with these complex requests, coupled with the demand to ensure that the material was safe to use as a building exterior, a large tile backed with GRC was unitised, and
POINT
Conventional tiles measure 600mm by 600mm, but the larg tiles developed for this project, at their largest, are 620 mm by 2500mm.
