New Year’s Towels as a Manufacturing Choice: The Background for Adopting Senshu Towels

AGB produces New Year’s towels to accompany our annual greetings at the start of each year. Starting with the 2026 edition, we have revised the specifications and will adopt “Senshu Towels” produced in the Senshu region of Osaka. This change aims to incorporate greater consideration for the global environment throughout the manufacturing process.

Senshu Towels utilize the “Post-Bleaching” method, harnessing the abundant water of the Izumi Mountains to remove starch and oil residues, allowing you to experience cotton’s inherent absorbency from the very first use. By employing specially aged cotton yarn and natural starch paste, softness and texture are maintained long-term. We produce these towels with consideration for the global environment by minimizing water usage during manufacturing (No fluorescent finish, 100% cotton).

We received cooperation from Fukuroya Towel in Izumisano City, Osaka during production. They sincerely accommodated AGB’s intentions and detailed requests. The design features a serene and clean aesthetic, with zodiac embroidery on a white background. While not ostentatious, it is a piece crafted with meticulous attention to materials and texture, mindful of the global environment. As we gradually reexamine the sentiments conveyed in New Year’s greetings, we aim to express AGB’s stance through our choices in craftsmanship.

AGB has consistently worked to incorporate environmental considerations into our daily promotional materials by reviewing calendar paper, binding methods, and ink usage. We start with what we can do, building awareness through small, cumulative choices. Moving forward, we will continue to shape our commitment to the global environment through accessible initiatives.
