This workshop is organized by Art and Architect Festa, a non-profit organization, with the aim of “having students majoring in architecture and environmental design leave the campus and create actual social works in a given location under the guidance of lecturers, mainly architects who are active in Japan and abroad. We have provided special cooperation from the viewpoint of nurturing the bearers of “artworks”.
In FY2020, the festival was held at Todaiji Temple in Nara City, Nara Prefecture.
Todaiji Temple is a temple of learning that was known as the “School of the Six Schools of Buddhism” in the Nara period (710-794) and as the “School of the Eight Schools of Buddhism” in the Heian period (794-1192).
It is the “original sacred place of learning” that has been handed down in Japan. It is also the site of the first Pritzker Prize ceremony held in Japan in 1989.
